A Beautiful Mind welcomes

COCOA BELLA (NY)

To show a diverse reach of readers that everything is possible all over the globe, what states or countries have you lived in? What state do you live in now?

I was born + raised in NY. I went to Atlanta for college and lived in Miami for 9 months after that. I never lived in another country, but my parents live in Austria, Vienna-- they been there since I was 17. I would visit often.

1.  If there's a song that reflects your vibe, what would that song be?  Do you meditate, pray or/and take time to mentally relax?  If so, what part of the day? For how long?

Song that reflects my vibe? That's reeeeeally broad and difficult for me to answer, lol. I'm stumped! I do meditate, daily. Usually in the morning for about 20-30 minutes  when the day seems most peaceful + promising. I always pray. That's a constant. Throughout the day, I always have conversations with GOD. That's what makes me spiritually aware.

2. Tell us about CoolCruelWorld.com

CCW was started 2.5 years ago-- mainly out of my own frustration. I was working in the industry as a freelance journalist, but was never able to book a solid staff-position at any of my desired media-outlets. I decided to create a lifestyle blog that reflected the art, music, culture, fashion and politics of NYC and the world. My plan was to eventually turn it into an internet-mag with a full staff. I have a staff now, but the CCW brand has turned into MUCH more than I ever imagined it would! In less than 3 years at that. It's amazing!

3.What early part of your life's journey prompted you to go create such a necessary outlet?

Basically, the frustration that I mentioned earlier pushed me to start it.

4. With some of your successful experiences allowing you to connect with other purposeful people, what are some of your day to day activities?

I usually start off my day with blogging. Kick that out pretty early, that leaves me room for other things. No day of mine is really "typical". I head out to the gym, I come home write songs, or hit the studio to record. Other days I might be shooting a client, or attending an event to shoot for my site. Most evenings, I do attend industry-related events, although as of late I've been cutting back on that. The open-bars are murder on a girls figure! LOL

5.  What do you do for fun? What new fun thing would you like to try?

I love karaoke, going to films, museums, and I enjoy shopping! I'd love to do a body seaweed-wrap treatment at a SPA. I've never done this, but always wanted to!

6.  "One thing on my Life List"  is to have children.
        7.  What/Who keeps your grounded in this ever changing world?

My sister, who I'm very close to keeps me very grounded and in touch with reality! LOL! I also have a lot of supportive fans and readers which is so humbling.

8.  What are 2 qualities that you prefer and respect about a mate at this point in your life?

Intelligence and understanding (good communicator).
9.  Who gave you 1 really good piece of advice early on and what was it?

Actually, several years ago one of my favorite artists (Kelis) did a candid interview, and something she said really struck me: "You will NEVER in your lifetime satisfy everyone. You should never make it your life's goal to do so. The only person who needs to be satisfied with your choices is you." <<<< and I use this as a guide in my everyday life.
10. What piece of business advice would you like to share?

Always go with your gut-instinct.

11. What is NEXT for you in 2011 and beyond?

I plan on doing a lot more shows, promoting my mixtape "Triple Threat Tragedy" which can be downloaded at   http://cocoabellamuzik.tumblr.com. I would love to do a mini-tour late-summer early Fall. I'm also working on an EP for the summer.... CCW plans on opening an online boutique where patrons can purchase various items (pins, tanks and tee's). CCW also plans on continuing our monthly party "22nd Century Tuesdays" at TAJ LOUNGE NYC (which is every first Tuesday of the month), and somewhere within all of that, I'm hoping I can find some time to fall in love :)

12.   Choose 1: High Heel, Low Heel OR No Heel?  HIGH!!!!
Choose 1: Novels, Biographies, Inspirational Book OR Blog ?  BLOG!!!!

Choose 1: Fresh Fruit, Fruit Smoothie OR Fresh Fruit Juiced? FRESH FRUIT!!
13. What word would best describe YOU right now?

 UNSTOPPABLE.

A Beautiful Mind welcomes

ELLE CASTRO (NY)

To show a diverse reach of readers that everything is possible all over the globe, what states or countries have you lived in? What state do you live in now?

New York; USA. I travel a great deal, to various countries,

but always come back to the Big Apple.

1. If there's a song that reflects your vibe, what would that song be? Do you meditate, pray or/and take time to mentally relax? If so, what part of the day? For how long?

I can't say that there is one particular song that reflects my vibe, there are various songs that do so. Different songs at different times relate to how I feel and the energy that I put out into the universe. I absolutely meditate, pray and take time to get into a zone of mental relaxation on a daily basis. I start my day out with prayer, and repeat it throughout the day numerous times. As for mental relaxation, I take spurts of time in the morning, day and night to remain balanced. Meditation usually occurs when I feel my stress levels rising, I quickly meditate to get my mind back on the right track, regroup and focus.

2. Tell us about The Torch Media Group

3.What early part of your life's journey lead you to such a creative and necessary outlet?

I learned in my early twenties that it was my life's purpose to pursue a creative profession that would allow me to express myself through art, which then led to my start as a music journalist. Journalism served as an outlet for me to be creative and express my ideas and inner thoughts by way of telling stories of/about artists' and entertainers' lives.

4. With some of your successful experiences allowing you to connect with other purposeful people, what are some of your day to day activities?

Remaining true to myself and always staying humble allows me to connect with people from all walks of live and professions. My day to day activities is always changing, so it's hard to pinpoint and share them with you.

5. What do you do for fun? What new fun thing would you like to try?

My fun day activities include engaging in something artistic such as an outing to the theater, museum or live performance. I also love to shop, whenever I can. Traveling tops my fun list, I get away as frequent as possible. Among the list of things I would like to try are zip lining and sky diving, one of which I will have completed by the fall.

6. "One thing on my Life List" is that
I have a heartfelt passion to launch my own non-profit organization one day, where I can delve more into my philanthropic side and serve my community. I have yet to reach this goal yet, but rest assured, it is atop of my list.

7. What/Who keeps your grounded in this ever changing world?

My family and close friends always keep my grounded. They are there for me if and whenever I need them, and I am truly Blessed to have them as my inner circle of people in my life that I can call on for anything.

8. What are 2 qualities that you prefer and respect about a mate at this point in your life?

It's hard to just list two qualities that I prefer and respect about a mate at this point in life, but here are some: loyal and honest, family oriented, Christian, diligent, respectful, genuinely kind hearted, maintains a true sense of self-love, passionate and determined, forgiving, open-minded, educated and articulate, and supportive.

9. Who gave you 1 really good piece of advice early on and what was it?

My mother always told me to keep my eye on the prize, remain focus and always follow my heart and dreams.

10. What piece of business advice would you like to share?

Don't get involved in/with a project unless you're ready to fully commit to it.

11. What is NEXT for you in 2011 and beyond?

Continuing to build my Torch Media Group, LLC brand, and further establishing myself as one of the well-respected hard-working media journalists in the game. I also, plan on taking steps to bring my philanthropic dreams closer to reality.

12. Choose 1: High Heel, Low Heel OR No Heel?

All three! I believe that all a high heel, low heel and a funky pair of flat show boots or funky sneakers are necessary at any given time.

Choose 1: Novels, Biographies, Inspirational Book OR Blog ?

Inspirational book.

Choose 1: Fresh Fruit, Fruit Smoothie OR Fresh Fruit Juiced?

Fresh fruit.

13. What word would best describe YOU right now?

Driven. I'm focused and prepared to take whatever steps necessary to be successful.

BE MY GUEST:

5 Questions with designer OSA ASEMOTA,

 Creator of  TGSbyOSA.com

1, What inspired you to create TGS By Osa?
I've always been in love with fabrics, specifically African fabrics. Growing up at a very young age in Nigeria, I always admired the vibrant colors & styles. And when worn, it exudes grace & regality. As I got older, my mom introduced me to thrift shopping where I was able to find some great vintage styles. So with TGS by OSA, I decided to fuse the modern & vintage styles of fashion, with some Afrique flair.

2. How would you describe your personal style?
Modern + Vintage. United.

3. What words of inspiration would you lend someone starting a fashion line?
Sounds cliche but Just Do it. If the passion is there, start with small steps. Then continue to learn along the way.

4. What makes TGS By OSA unique?
TGS by OSA is unique because the selections can be paired with so many things. A cute pair of ankara shorts can be worn with a plain tee & flip flops by day, and by night, bring out the colorful jewelry & pumps, and you've got a new look.

5. What is next for TGS By OSA this year?
This year, we're looking into having some of our pieces in select boutiques, as well as participating in philanthropic shows/events.
